Minnesota Strain Redbud is a deciduous tree with a more or less rounded form. Its relatively coarse texture can be used to stand it apart from other landscape plants with finer foliage. This is a relatively low maintenance tree, and should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season's flowers. Deer don't.

The Minnesota Strain of the Eastern Redbud is hardy here in Zone 4. They prefer moist, well-drained soils and it is best if they are planted in a protected location. The Minnesota Strain of the Eastern Redbud is a modest growing tree with a more horizontal growth pattern and in Minnesota will reach 18′-20′ in height and 15′-20′ wide.
